HOW LONG CAN I USE WINDOWS 7 BEFORE IT BECOMES BRICKED?

I installed Windows 7 a couple weeks ago on my laptop. But I am considering installing it onto my desktop. Does anyone know if the operating system will brick its self before the official release of the OS?
I intend on buy Windows 7 and have a beta key.
When upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7, will I loose my current files?

I've heard a lot of bad reviews about installing windows 7 on an external hardrive. Some people say you can't other say you can but it would be crappy. If we can, what am I supposed to do for my windows 7 to run perfectly on an external hardrive. Do I have to format the external HD? What's a good external HD? I would really appreciate your help.

Ok I have windows vista but I want windows 7. So I am planning on getting windows 7 on release date. Now I have never upgraded a computer before and I just bought my laptop in august 2009. How do I successfully upgrade without losing my stuff like:
Sims 3 data, Office and school documents, music for Zune HD, and programs I downloaded to my computer.
Can I just upgrade and everything will be fine? Please help!

WINDOWS 7 / WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER / HOW DO I GET RID OF ALBUM PICTURES WHEN PLAYING MP3 FILES ?

I use windows 7 and play music files with windows media player. Some mp3 files automatically download the album photos and I don't want to see these album photos. Most of the mp3 files don't have these but some like Paparoach automatically downloads Cockroach photo and it's disgusting.
