BRETT FAVRE’S ADVENTURES BECOMING A NOT VERY FUN SEQUEL

Brett Favre "Indecision is like a stepchild: if he does not wash his hands, he is called dirty, if he does, he is wasting water."— African proverb Of all the Brett Favre retirements, 2008 was my favorite. It had a freshness and we were so innocent then. The drama popped off the screen. Still, King relays that Favre's own mother and close friend Al Jones of the Biloxi Herald both doubt he's already decided to retire. We're 100-percent certain Favre hasn't made a decision, but he may need to see signs of progress with the ankle to return by his late-August target date. ... [more..]

CORPSE FLOWER LOIS BEGINS TO OPEN UP A BIT

Lois, Houston's shy corpse flower at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, is showing signs of coming out of her shell this morning. The Cockrell Butterfly Center at the HMNS, where Lois is stationed, isn't using the "B" word right now: "While we are not saying that Lois has started the blooming process, we do want to say that Lois has made significant progress today and has taken one more step in the right direction," Latha Thomas, VP of marketing and sales at HMNS, said in an e-mail from Tuesday evening. Thomas said by phone this morning that Lois, who opened up about 3 inches Tuesday, has continued to open even a little more this morning. The museum will stay open 24 hours a ... [more..]
